Chris Ross Williamson now creates his characterful pieces in his quiet studio in Corton, Suffolk with panoramic views of the sea \u2013 something that is often alluded to in his work.\r\n\r\nOften described as quirky and whimsical,\u00a0Chris\u2019\u00a0playful work usually involves an atmospheric land or seascape populated with his characters \u2013 the gaunt and dry-humoured,\u00a0\u2018Garfield Eldritch\u2019 and his faithful Jack Russell pal,\u00a0\u2018Barton Darcy\u2019. The British\u00a0east coast landscape and vernacular architecture feature heavily as a backdrop and\u00a0touches of humour are\u00a0often evident. Chris\u00a0says\u00a0\u201cI like to give people a grin if I can\u201d.\r\n\r\nChris\u00a0paints on panel using a large palette of oil colours, sometimes mixing metallics (silver, copper or gold) into the paint to bring out the shimmer of the sea.\r\n\r\nForest Gallery are pleased to be one of the few galleries showing both prints and original paintings by Chris Ross Williamson.
